Bitdeer AI secures a 67 MW A901 campus agreement in Malaysia
Source report: 2026-10-08 · Editorial analysis published: 2026-10-10
Bitdeer AI’s October 8 release describes a ten-year A901 agreement and delivery targets in 2027. The $10 billion opportunity pipeline is not contracted revenue or backlog.

Analysis and practical implications
This section is our analysis and illustrative calculations, separate from the source report.
A new agreement for the A901 campus
Bitdeer AI announced a ten-year data-center services agreement for the 67 MW A901 campus in Malaysia on October 8, 2026. The company targets initial capacity delivery in the first quarter of 2027 and full delivery in the second quarter. It describes A901 as a third Malaysian hub alongside Cyberjaya and Johor, engineered for liquid-cooled NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 systems. These are agreement and development disclosures, not a report that the campus is already operating.
The project is relevant to ASIC.tools because it comes from the AI business within a group active in Bitcoin mining and digital infrastructure. That connection does not make the 67 MW an addition to mining capacity. Our analysis keeps the planned customer workload, delivery stages and financial descriptions separate. An agreement can secure a future service boundary while equipment installation and acceptance still remain to be completed.

Secured capacity retains a defined boundary
The company gives approximately 273.5 MW of secured AI Cloud capacity, about 78% of its target of up to 350 MW by the first quarter of 2028. It defines secured as owned capacity or capacity under an executed data-center services agreement. All the release’s megawatt figures refer to critical IT load. Accordingly, the secured total should not be labelled current running capacity or combined with a whole-site electrical total without an explanation of the boundary.
Critical IT power concerns the computing equipment boundary, while total facility power can include supporting loads. The difference matters when planning a utility connection or evaluating a site. A project record should retain whether a stated capacity is contracted, targeted, commissioned or measured. Changing the label from secured to operational would silently convert a commercial milestone into an engineering claim. The source supplies a definition; our reporting preserves it.
Commercial opportunity and committed revenue
The release estimates an active AI Cloud opportunity pipeline above $10 billion and states that no A901 offtake commitments had been entered into at its date. It explicitly distinguishes the pipeline from backlog, revenue and binding commitments. The estimate is therefore a description of potential commercial discussions, not a signed customer purchase of the entire campus. It should not be used as evidence that the future equipment has already been fully sold.
For an infrastructure comparison, separate provider-side arrangements from customer-side commitments. An operator can contract for a facility while continuing to negotiate the sale of its computing service. Those two relationships have different counterparties and performance conditions. Record execution dates, acceptance terms and service commencement independently where disclosed. A project can advance on the supply side without having reached the same stage on the demand side.
Delivery targets need a commissioning sequence
A staged delivery target can reflect more than one readiness milestone. A hall, electrical distribution zone and customer service may each have a distinct acceptance date. An announcement that initial capacity is targeted for one quarter does not disclose how much will be delivered on the first day of that quarter. Retain the stated precision instead of inventing a monthly or daily schedule. Later commissioning reports can make the sequence more concrete.
For a farm or data-center operator planning equipment arrivals, this distinction affects storage, installation crews and the start of paid service. Align the shipment schedule with the usable operating boundary, then retain contingency for tasks whose completion has not been confirmed. A delayed component can affect an otherwise prepared site. The October release is evidence of the A901 agreement and its targets; it is not a certificate that all dependencies have already been satisfied.
Cooling design follows the specified workload
A liquid-cooled rack design has requirements that differ from a conventional air-cooled mining row. The permitted coolant, heat-transfer arrangement, electrical distribution and network design depend on the installed systems. Do not infer compatibility with an ASIC model from the fact that both systems use liquid cooling. An equipment-specific installation manual and a site design are necessary to establish that match, even when an operator already has experience with another liquid-cooled workload.
For a mining site assessing conversion, document what can be reused and what needs replacement. A building envelope or incoming supply may be useful while internal racks, plumbing and operating procedures need substantial changes. The source does not identify A901 as a converted Bitcoin farm, so our article does not assign it that history. Shared corporate ownership and a related infrastructure skill set are insufficient evidence of physical reuse at a specific project.
An electrical scenario illustrates the boundary
For an independent example, suppose a hypothetical site has IT demand of 10 MW and supporting demand of 2 MW at the same instant. Total demand would be 12 MW and the total-to-IT ratio would be 1.2. That example explains why IT capacity and utility demand should be recorded separately. It is not a measurement or predicted PUE for A901. The release does not provide the auxiliary-power observations needed to calculate the campus’s operating ratio.
Energy is also distinct from power. A constant 10 MW IT load over 24 hours would consume 240 MWh of IT energy; actual consumption depends on the operating profile and uptime. Do not apply a full-load illustration to the entire ten-year agreement as if every hour were already committed and measured. Commercial terms, phased delivery and customer utilization can affect the service record. Arithmetic can clarify a boundary without forecasting a specific project’s future bill.
The relevance for mining-sector planning
The agreement shows a new infrastructure step by an AI business associated with a mining group. It does not establish a new ASIC model, a firmware release or an increase in the Bitcoin network’s accepted hashrate. Keep the mining inventory separate from an AI infrastructure portfolio. This allows later disclosures to be compared without converting critical IT megawatts into an invented EH/s figure based on an assumed machine efficiency.
A farm owner considering another workload should compare the complete service requirements and costs rather than only headline capacity. Customer access, networking, cooling, maintenance responsibilities and delivery acceptance can materially change the operating model. Those questions are concrete enough to evaluate when project-specific documents arrive. A broad market opportunity is useful context, but it does not replace a signed contract or a tested design for the operator’s own property.
What should be verified next
Follow-up evidence should establish actual delivery, commissioned capacity and customer service commitments as they become available. Compare each later number with the same definition and reporting date. Do not add a subsequent announcement to the earlier secured total unless the issuer explains whether it is incremental or already included. That avoids double counting a campus as it moves from an agreement to handover and then to operation.
The two licensed archival photographs provide Malaysian and computing-infrastructure context. They do not show A901 construction or newly installed racks at that campus. The source link retains Bitdeer’s original announcement and its qualifications. The confirmed news is the ten-year agreement for a future 67 MW campus; delivery dates and prospective customer opportunities remain targets and discussions until separately substantiated.
