Brazil’s mining sector gains ground
Source report: 2026-07-17 · Editorial analysis published: 2026-09-10
Luxor estimates Brazil’s contribution grew from roughly 2.5 to 3.5 EH/s over a year, amid complex grid and tax conditions.

Analysis and practical implications
This section is our analysis and illustrative calculations, separate from the source report.
Country-level growth is only the beginning of site research
An estimate of national mining capacity can show that an industry is becoming more visible. It does not tell an operator whether a particular building, electricity contract or connection is suitable. Brazil's scale and regional diversity make that distinction especially important when interpreting a national overview.
A prospective site needs its own technical and commercial assessment. Identify the actual electricity supplier, connection conditions, operating limits and responsibilities for infrastructure work. Avoid substituting a national average or an attractive regional headline for a quotation and an engineering review tied to a specific location.

Compare delivered electricity costs
The headline energy price may be only one part of the invoice. A site comparison should identify the applicable charges, contract structure and any costs associated with reserved capacity or infrastructure. The details depend on the actual arrangement and need current local verification.
Use a sample operating profile to request a complete cost illustration. The same amount of energy can have a different total cost under different patterns of use. A continuously operating fleet and a flexible load should not automatically be compared using the same simplified average tariff.
Include logistics and support in the location decision
Importing, installing and maintaining equipment creates a chain of dependencies beyond power. Record shipping lead times, availability of qualified service, spare-parts planning and the process for handling failed devices. These factors can affect useful uptime even when the electrical arrangement looks attractive.
Climate and cooling requirements belong in the operating budget as well. The relevant question is how the proposed equipment performs under the site's actual conditions. A factory specification measured under defined conditions should not be treated as proof of identical year-round behavior in another environment.
Turn a country overview into a due-diligence checklist
Use the reported growth as a reason to ask better questions: which operating advantages are repeatable, which depend on a particular contract, and which require specialized local knowledge? Distinguish an operator's experience from a condition available to every new entrant.
Before committing capital, assemble a site-specific record of permissions, commercial terms, engineering requirements and maintenance arrangements. Seek qualified local advice for legal and tax questions. The value of a national mining overview is context and discovery; the investment decision belongs to the evidence for the individual project.
