Identify the unit being offered
Request the full model and performance variant, serial identifier, control board type and included power supply. Ask whether the machine has been repaired, modified or used in a different cooling system. Confirm that the photographs and test record refer to the actual unit. A listing title can describe a family rather than the specific hashrate version, and a clean enclosure is not proof of internal condition.
Inspect safely before powering
Check packaging, connectors, enclosure and accessible areas for impact damage, corrosion, missing parts or evidence of overheating. Do not energize a device with damaged electrical connections or signs of moisture. Have questionable electrical components assessed by a qualified technician. Photograph the condition before handling or disassembly. If the purchase agreement depends on unopened seals, resolve the inspection procedure with the seller before removing anything.
Observe sustained operation
Test in a suitable installation using an approved profile and a worker you can verify. Allow startup and normal stabilization, then record accepted work, reported boards, temperatures and measured power over a meaningful period. A brief screenshot can hide intermittent faults or an unusual performance setting. Compare the observed configuration with the exact specification and note ambient conditions rather than demanding an unexplained match to a marketing number.
Check records and commercial conditions
Review available fault logs, repair documentation and warranty status through the official process. Warranty eligibility can depend on contract and serial history, so do not assume it restarts when ownership changes. Agree on what counts as acceptance, who pays return shipping and how an undisclosed defect will be handled. Keep the invoice and the seller’s description of the tested configuration alongside the technical evidence.
Calculate the complete delivered cost
Add transport, compatible power equipment, installation and a realistic allowance for service uncertainty. A cheaper device can require more electricity or downtime than an alternative. After delivery, repeat the condition check and baseline test before adding it to the farm inventory. Replace inherited credentials and verify every pool destination. Treat missing evidence as an unresolved purchase risk rather than filling the gaps with optimistic assumptions.
