Hydro-cooled miners: requirements before commissioning
Check the complete cooling circuit, water specifications and failure response before starting the hardware.

Use the manual for the exact model
Record required coolant conditions, flow, pressure, temperature range and electrical supply from the applicable model manual. Requirements from a different hydro generation are not interchangeable. Identify whether a value describes the inlet, outlet or overall system. Ask the supplier to resolve missing information before installation. A photograph of a hose connection does not tell you the required water chemistry, allowable pressure or compatibility of materials.
Treat cooling as a complete system
List the miner, manifolds, pumps, heat exchanger, heat rejection equipment, filters, sensors and controls. The miner’s advertised power does not describe the total site consumption of that system. Confirm that the installation has enough capacity at the intended outdoor conditions. A cooling loop that works in cool weather can become inadequate during peak heat. Include maintenance access and the ability to isolate a unit without disrupting every rack.
Commission with qualified personnel
Follow the manufacturer’s installation and commissioning sequence, including checks for leaks, correct circulation and suitable fluid conditions before enabling mining load. Use the specified water or coolant treatment; ordinary tap water is not universally suitable. Electrical and pressurized-fluid work should be performed by qualified personnel. Do not bypass flow or leak alarms to complete a startup test, and do not improvise a universal pressure setting for all models.
Monitor more than one temperature
Track the documented inlet and outlet measurements, flow, pressure behavior and alarm state. Inspect pumps and accessible connections for abnormal noise, vibration or leaks without opening energized equipment. Changes from a stable baseline can be more informative than one isolated reading. Record whether a fault occurs on a single miner or across the loop. Shared cooling symptoms should be investigated at the system level before replacing individual devices.
Prepare shutdown and seasonal procedures
Document what happens when circulation stops, outdoor conditions exceed the design range or a leak is detected. Follow the equipment’s shutdown and preservation instructions, including applicable freezing and storage precautions. Draining or refilling a system incorrectly can introduce its own problems, so use the vendor procedure. A ready installation has tested protection and a maintenance record, not only a successful first connection to a mining pool.
